A lot of times, we’re told what we should be doing in business, and when we hear that word “should” in our sentences, we know it’s someone else’s dream. What is it that we need to avoid? That’s more important than what should be done.

The number one thing is not to become complacent. We build products and services, think we’ve got it all in place, and then we say, “Now we’ll just keep selling.” Most of the time, you’ll sell a lot very quickly, but then you become complacent, and your sales start to drop off.

To overcome this, here are the three things not to do in business:

  1. Keep Changing: Change your marketing, change your message, change how you talk to people, and where you hang out. Make sure you’re still expanding your reach.
  1. Reinvent Your Product: What you make can become outdated very quickly. People have seen it; they either want it or they don’t. So, you need to continually build in your business and reinvent your products and services.
  1. Keep Developing: Keep adding to your toolbox of products and services that you can offer. People don’t want just a single product or service.

Make sure you’re always building—that should be a part of your ideal week. So, don’t be complacent.
